Amber Events loves Smog Shoppe, and boy do they love us back. This is the 2nd feature in the past two weeks for Smog Shoppe weddings on Style Me Pretty!
See all the pretties here!
Today we have a fun colorful wedding featured on Style Me Pretty!
Kat and Aaron at the time worked for the Mattel toy company. We talked about incorporating playful elements in their wedding design to parallel their fun careers.
Thus the use of UNO cards for their table numbers! And Pom Poms for ceremony! And…. Oh wait, just look for all the pretties here to see what I’m talking about.
Oh my goodness! I just realized that it has been over a month since a blog has gone up! Nira and I have been wildly busy with some incredible weddings lately and I’ve been wildly busy with my no-longer-a-baby-now-a-toddler, Lulu!
Most recently, I planned & designed the below wedding. WOW, right?! Eve Torres, of WWE Diva fame, reached out to me almost a year ago to help her plan her wedding to Rener Gracie, of the legendary martial arts Gracie family. When I got her email my conversation with my husband went a little something like this: “have you ever heard of the Gracie family in the martial arts world?” to which he replied “that’s like asking someone who likes music ‘have you ever heard of this band called the Beatles?” Ah. I see. Then I Googled and realized my question was really, really dumb.
So Eve and I started planning their wedding ceremony at a private Polo Ranch in Goleta, CA with their reception at Bacara Resort. Below are a few photos of it. It was exquisite. There are a few more over on the Mi Belle Photography blog. You’ll see more of this wedding in the future, I promise! Kai-Ting is Taiwanese but grew up in Saudi Arabia. Nick is Italian American. They met in law school and are both busy, busy attorneys living in Manhattan. They wanted a destination wedding in Southern California but also desired a subtle French feeling brought into the day as Kai-Ting adores Paris and that is where they honeymooned.
The Casa Romantica Cultural Center in San Clemente fit their aesthetic perfectly! A beautiful white stucco Spanish California building with a slightly European feel to it and incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and San Clemente Pier was the perfect location to host an intimate wedding of 60 guests.
The invitations were custom designed by Jill Velez of CopperWillow and featured a blind letterpress of the Pier along with wavy gray calligraphy designed to mimic ocean waves.
The ceremony was held outside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Vintage Persian rugs created the space for the couple to stand on as they said their vows. Kai-Ting wore a Monique Lhullier dress and Valentino shoes.
Cocktail hour was held inside the Cultural Center and guests found their escort cards on a table decorated with potted mint and candles. Vintage cream, white, and gold furniture from Found Rentals were the perfect accessory to the sparkling chandelier.
For dinner, guests were escorted to the lawn where long tables were set with raw linen tablecloths, white flowers in silver and cut crystal vases, oregano sprigs on the napkins, and taper and pillar candles. Bistro lights twinkled overhead.
After a delicious dinner from Iva Lee’s Catering, guests were escorted back inside to dance the night away on the black and white checkered dancefloor.

I’m so excited that Matt & Alison’s fun, urban wedding was featured recently on Green Wedding Shoes! I loved planning their wedding and LOVED how it turned out! They live in Minnesota and we did most everything long distance. I love that they trusted me with creating a special day for them!
Alison + Matt were high school sweethearts who met at band camp back many, many years ago and they tied the knot last July, at Studio 1342 in Los Angeles, with an intimate celebration filled with lots of modern + colorful details. They wanted the day to truly represent the two of them and their families, so there were tons of music-inspired styling elements that I designed for them. I especially adore the “yearbook” that we made for them on the chalkboard that belongs to Studio 1342.
