Anita & Matt’s Celebration Weekend

The union of two families is so beautiful, isn’t it? Anita, of Indian descent, and Matt, of Jewish descent, had fallen in love and decided to honor both of their families’ traditions in one single weekend.

First stop: Malibu West Beach Club, where family and friends came dressed in traditional Indian garments. The evening included a baraat, during which the groom processes to the venue atop a white horse, accompanied by his family and friends. It’s basically a walking dance party, complete with DJ and drums! The wedding ceremony was stunning, with Anita in her bold, red dress and the ocean as the background. The ceremony was also, of course, bookended with romantic strolls on the beach.

The following day was spent at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, where some of Matt’s family traditions took center stage. This day’s ceremony was held under a Jewish chuppah and included the breaking of the glass, a tribute to the Jerusalem Temple. The reception was held on the other side of the property’s mansion, where the team from The Enchanted Florist had decorated in deep shades of maroon, fuchsia, and purple. A second night of dancing, and the two were made complete.

Not one, not two, but three…!

Here at Amber Events, we pride ourselves on the relationships we’ve harvested with all vendors wedding-related in Los Angeles. One of them is with Vibiana, a cathedral-turned-event-venue in historic downtown. This past summer, we were fortunate to have been featured on their blog as a “preferred planner.” The topic? The Modern Bride. Part one defines the modern bride, part two spotlights the challenges of planning a modern bride’s wedding, and part three focuses on the execution of that planning. If you’re looking for a unique perspective on planning weddings, take a look!

Ah, the crisp air of autumn. If you’re living in Southern California (like us), we know what you’re thinking–FINALLY! Check out this featurette on Soleil, an Australian jeweler, for this season’s wedding inspiration. The wedding of our former clients, Rachel and Jared, just captured the essence of fall, with its twist on the classic fall palette, embellished with brass and gold. Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 1.44.36 PM

Sara & Eli’s Elegant, Yet Rustic Wedding

I_1089Remember Sara & Eli’s Pre-Wedding Carnival? Well, here’s the follow-up of their actual wedding day, photographed by the magnificent Miki & Sonja. Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, King Gillette Ranch is home to a 1920s mansion, the setting for this elegant, yet rustic wedding.

It was in the details. From the DIY watercolored invitations (that inspired this project) to the “naked” cake, the individual elements of this wedding were non-fussy, but they truly came together to create something special.

The ceremony was held just beyond the mansion, underneath a massive oak tree. The aisle was lined with imperfectly perfect strands of greenery, fashioned by our good friend, Susan, at Peony & Plum. The couple’s beloved poodle, Bagel (featured in their “save the date” card), was also accompanied down the aisle, before Sara was revealed in a classic trumpet-style gown.

The sunset became the most picturesque backdrop for the reception to begin in the courtyard. At the center, a gentle fountain set the tone for a serene evening. Sara and Eli’s guests were treated to not one, but two food stations, followed by s’mores, ice cream, and of course, a whole lot of dancing.

Sara & Eli’s Pre-Wedding Carnival

Why have a rehearsal dinner when you can have a pre-wedding carnival? Located at Verdugo Hills Golf Course in Tujunga, former clients Sara and Eli hosted this fun gathering for friends and family the day before their wedding. With giant inflatables, obstacle courses, velcro walls, sumo wrestling, a caricaturist, and more, the party went on well after the sun went down!

Oh, the energy!

Associate planner–Jackie Hsu–says, “This is a great opportunity to represent the groom’s personality… I’d suggest more couples to get together for a fun, casual, less traditional, unconventional party the night before their wedding to contrast the elegant, formal, more traditional wedding night.” Now there’s some carnival food for thought!

Special thanks to our good friend, Paulina, for capturing the excitement. Come back soon to see photos from Sara and Eli’s actual wedding day!
